Yogadamba is a collaboration of yogini’s and friends dedicated to taking yoga off the mat and into the world. We teach throughout London and the UK. Yogadamba teachers run group yoga classes and one to one yoga tuition in your home. We also run yoga workshops and yoga holidays around the UK and internationally.
Through yoga an opportunity is given to embody peace, truth and joy in this very lifetime. It is a life-long apprenticeship of creative discovery as the yoga practitioner deepens their connection with intuitive wisdom.
”Yoga is 99% practice and 1% theory. Practice is the best of all instructions. Practice and all is coming”
We combine a variety of asana styles from several yoga schools that reflect our own continual development and personal practice. We remain eternally grateful to our many teachers including Swami Sivananda, Swami VishnuDevananda, Sri Pattabhi Jois, BKS Iyengar and Mother Nature!
Asana, in Sanskrit means "Seat, posture, connection to the earth". When the connection to Mother Earth is stable, one feels ease in the body and the mind. Total mindfulness of the present and of the mind is the aim of asana practice and yoga. This journey towards inner wisdom allows the yogi to live evermore deeply and fully within the modern world.
For this reason we chose the name "Yogadamba", joining yoga (union with the Source of all) and Jagadamba. Jagadamba in Sanskrit means "The Mother of the Universe". The Mother aspect of the Divine, reminds us to reconnect with our own inner voice, wisdom, creativity, intuition and compassion. The Mother reminds us to nurture and care for all beings. Yoga is as much about how we treat the earth and its inhabitants as we do ourselves.
We hope that your journey fills you with joy, bliss and fulfilment!
